Step-by-Step Training Guide

1. Confirm the Importance of MAYDAY Calls

  • Discuss when and why MAYDAY calls are necessary.

2. Initiate the MAYDAY Call

  • Locate the Radio or Microphone: Ensure a working communication device is available.
  • Press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) Button: Start communication by pressing the button.
  • Use Emergency Activation Button (EAB): If unable to speak or access the device, press the emergency button to send a distress signal.

3. Declare “MAYDAY”

  • Clearly say, “MAYDAY! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!” three times to announce the emergency.

4. Respond if No Reply is Received

  • Repeat, “MAYDAY! MAYDAY!” if there’s no immediate response.
